Did you vote?

Pray for our state and our country.

  • GOP loses 27 seats in the House of Representatives to Democrats.
  • Senate still in a tight race, probably will go to Democrats as well.
  • Nancy Pelosi becomes the House Speaker.
  • Measure 85 failed - Waiting period and parental notification before termination of minor's pregancy
  • Measures 1A-1E all passed, which means that we will be paying through the nose for generations to come.
  • Schwarzenegger wins again for a full 4-year term....until some nutjobs decides to do another recall election.

I dunno...I could go on and on, but it only makes me sadder to think of the possibilities our country could be going. Granted, this new series of events will have us fighting even harder for what's morally and spiritually right for this country/state/city.

Perhaps there is a purpose in all of this. Perhaps this shift in power is what God is allowing for His ultimate purpose. This kind of event reminds me of the studies in the book of Daniel during our young couples group here in Salinas. It's interesting to see the shift in power between the Babylonians, Medo-Persians, Greeks and Romans and the fact that Daniel prophesied it all through God! Also, listening to the "Focus on the Family" podcast kind of put a lot things into perspective. If you have the chance, subscribe the shows through iTunes! They're really great!

Just for your pleasure, I've added the last podcast about the elections down below. Take a listen when you get the chance!

Pray for our state and country.

So who I will be choosing this year? That's a good question, because I've been wrestling with this for the past couple of weeks. After many hours of research to find the right candidate, here's what I got:

  • Governor - Robert C. Newman, II - write-in candidate
  • Lt. Governor - Tom McClintock
  • Secretary of State - Bruce McPherson
  • Controller - Tony Strickland
  • Treasurer - Claude Parrish
  • Attorney General - Chuck Poochigian
  • Insurance Commissioner - Steve Poizner
  • Member, State Board of Equalization, 1st District - David J. Neighbors
  • United States Senator - Richard "Dick" Mountjoy
  • United States Representative, 17th District - Jeff Edward Taylor - write-in candidate
  • Judicial - Yes on Nathan Mihara & Wendy Clark Duffy
  • Yes on Prop 1A, 83, 85, 90
  • No on 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E, 84, 86, 87, 88, 89

So why not Arnold? I dunno...I never liked him running our country. He's a great actor and makes fairly *good* actiony movies (except Last Action Hero...*shiver* ), but running the government I'm not so sure of. From what I see only just recently, he's becoming more Democratic than Republican. Phil Angelides is the lesser of the two evils...or the other way around. I only just discovered Robert Newman who seems like a pretty good candidate to look after the Christian belief. Check out his site! Not sure if he'll have enough votes though...I guess we just have to keep praying...

Another one that I found was the replacement for Senator. Never like Dianne Feinstein....she's too liberal and is totally against what Christians stand for. Thus, Richard "Dick" Mountjoy for Senate. He's a God-fearing man who I think is a good fit to represent us.

What I noticed while selecting my choices is that most of the people I chose were Republicans. Interesting...I never have associated myself to any particular party, but yet I find myself voting mostly one way.

But why am I devoting my entire blog entry to this particular election year? For those of you who know me, I am not usually vocal on stuff like this. I usually just vote for whomever, let God do the rest and keep quiet. After getting married, it's got me thinking of a few things...well...make that a LOT of things. One of which is the future of our next generation. Would I want our way of life and the things that we do be dictated by liberals and the ACLU on how we eat, sleep, drink and what we do? I think that's an easy answer. DUH!

I've included a good audio clip on Dr. James Dobson (Focus on the Family) about this election. He really put a good perspective on things. Take a listen and see for yourself how important these elections can be!

"That's What Christians Do Now"

Profound words that I found while doing research for the upcoming election:

IN 1973 THE SUPREME COURT SAID IT WAS OK TO KILL UNBORN BABIES
Since then, we have killed more than the entire population of Canada... and it continues. A woman's choice? Half of those who died in their mothers' wombs have been women. They didn't have a choice. It is called abortion.

Me? I go to church, the minister preaches, I go home. That's what Christians do now.

First it was in dingy, dirty theaters. Then, convenience stores. Then, grocery stores. Then, on television. Now it is in the homes of millions via the internet. It is called pornography.

Me? I go to church, the minister preaches, I go home. That's what Christians do now.

They call it no-fault. Why should we blame anyone when something so tragic happens. Haven't they already suffered enough? Half of the marriages in America end this way. The children suffered. The family broke down. It is called divorce.

Me? I go to church, the minister preaches, I go home. That's what Christians do now.

At one time it was a perversion. We kept it secret. We secured help and hope for those who practiced it. Now it is praised. We have parades celebrating it, and elected officials give it their blessing. Now it is endowed with special privileges and protected by special laws. Even some Christian leaders and denominations praise it. It is called homosexuality.

Me? I go to church, the minister preaches, I go home. That's what Christians do now.

It used to be an embarrassment. A shame. Now a third of all births are to mothers who aren't married. Two-thirds of all African-American children are born into a home without a father. The state usually pays the tab. That is why we pay our taxes, so that government can take the place of parents. After all, government bureaucrats know much better how to raise children than parents do. It is called illegitimacy.

Me? I go to church, the minister preaches, I go home. That's what Christians do now.

At one time it was wrong. But then the state decided to legalize it, promote it and tax it. It has ripped apart families and destroyed lives. But just look at all the money the state has raised. No longer do we have to teach our children to study and work hard. Now we teach them they can get something for nothing. We spend millions encouraging people to join the fun and excitement. Just look at the big sums that people are winning. They will never have to work again! It is called gambling.

Me? I go to church, the minister preaches, I go home. That's what Christians do now.

Not long ago, Christians were the good guys. But now any positive image of Christians in movies or on TV is rare. We are usually depicted as the bad guys - greedy, narrow-minded hypocrites. The teacher can't have a Bible on her desk, but can have Playboy. We don't have Christmas and Easter holidays, just winter and spring break. We can't pray in school, but can use foul language. It is called being tolerant.

Me? I go to church, the minister preaches, I go home. That's what Christians do now.

Yes, all these things came to pass within 30 years. Where were the Christians? Why, they were in church. All these things are for someone else to deal with. Times have changed. Apathy has replaced Involvement.

But don't blame me. I didn't do anything. I go to church, the minister preaches, I go home. That's what Christians do now.

-- Donald E. Wildmon, President, American Family Association

Chew on that before going to vote tomorrow...Pray for our state and our nation.

In reference to yesterday's post, I found a video with the spinning drummer on YouTube: Click here!

In other cool links that I found quite recently:
  • Cool Flash Animation: deviantART
  • Gigapxl Project: "Portrait of America" - super-high resolution pictures from around the country
  • The Minibosses: For those of you who remember the days of playing old Nintendo games, there's a band who specializes in theme songs from various games. Pretty awesome band! I think I might buy one of their albums..
  • TED Conference 2006: Saw this on one of my subscribed podcasts the other day. It's a brand new way of working around your windows desktop without any keyboard or mouse!!! Check it out!
  • Heard about this site on the radio the other day for new dads: Be-Prepared.net. Definitely will come in handy someday!
  • How popular is your name? Don't know? Check it out on this site...Name Voyager. It seems my full name doesn't even register after 1980. Haha...go figure...
Alright...that's it for now. Go out and get some fresh air. Found out that the word "Mouse Potato" was just recently added to the Oxford Dictionary. What is it you ask? Well...
mousepotato
...'nough said.
